The holiday was fine. Nothing too exciting. Logan got his birthday present from Nana and the kids are all playing with it now. It's a Thomas set (of course) and I even find it pretty entertaining!
Today Jake's going into hiding to work on toys to make for the kids for Christmas. He's drawn up some plans and is excited to do so, and I'm happy it'll put a few things under the tree for the kids. I was able to get them a few things at the store the other day with some toy coupons, but otherwise it's going to be very lean this year. Jake and I have almost decided to just not have it at all, no joke. Is it really worth the stress? We're deciding.
I'll be hanging out here with the kiddos today, trying to work on a Psychology paper and work online. Tomorrow will be more of the same! We live a life of excitement!
Happy Black Friday to all, and to all a good night. How many days until Christmastime is over?

Organization
If anyone knows me WELL, they know I struggle with being organized. This has not always been the case. Pre-children, I ran an office as a manager quite well. I did payroll, scheduling, etc, etc, etc, with no problem. People came to me for all that jazz.
Now, not so much. I suck! Motherhood has done a number on my brain. At least, that's what I blame it on. :) This mainly applies to the "stuff" of our lives: paperwork, etc. I can keep us organized in my brain when it comes to organizing time, keeping the kids on a schedule. But I want to get better at both.
Today I'm taking over my life and getting stuff together. It will help us further in watching every penny we have. In my organization efforts, I've been able to look through our paperwork and get a little disgruntled about our new benefits through Jake's job. We're still going to be paying $400/mo, give or take, for HORRIBLE insurance coverage now. I could go on, but I won't because it will ruin my day. But yeah... we're getting every checkup, immunization, and maybe a few elective surgeries (kidding) before the end of the year. Good gracious sakes ALIVE!
My school is going fabulous. Jake and I have committed to putting our tax refunds toward him finishing up his degree. We also need to save for a new vehicle. We're going to be saving alot this next year for that sort of thing. We have our goals in place and we're sticking to them. It's so bonding to have goals as a couple and family.
The family is good as gold. Nicholas is still proving to be a handful. He's very precocious and into EVERYTHING. There is no such thing as childproofing with him, as he can get up, over, and through any barriers. We've had 3 boys before him and thought we knew what worked. He has humbled us and we will never, EVER think we have anything figured out about ANYTHING again. But on the other hand, he's also very sweet and is learning to be polite. He's smarter than a whip (which contributes to how precocious and naughty he can be). Since he's old for his upcoming grades, I might break down and try to get him into a preschool when he's 4 (since he'll be about 5 when he starts preK), depending on money, for a few days a week. He begs to go to school like all of his brothers and would love to have something of his own. He's such a youngest child and wants so badly to be with the big boys. I can't believe he'll be 3 in a matter of days.
Thanksgiving is coming and we're just praying for health this year. So far, so good. But there's so many things going around this year that I know that can change in a blink. I hope that all of our loved ones and family have health this year.

Concerned
I'm ending today concerned. It's been an okay day, with one of the worst flareups of my life, but it's easing. Thank goodness.
But my mind today is on Katie and her girls. The girls are going on like day 12? 13?... of fevers. They were finally diagnosed with Swine Flu several days ago. Yesterday she texted me and said they were taking Kimberley to Insta Care, and a little while later she had a diagnosis of bronchial pneumonia. Now Nora's not doing so well, and they're in the doctor's office right now, so I'm worried to hear what's going on. I called temples all over the country today to get their names in, and most were closed. I did find at the Billings, Montana temple, they have a prayer roll voice mail, so I was able to get it in there and mark it as Urgent.
I'll update when I find out more.

So Kimberley does not have pneumonia. Their pediatrician looked at the xrays the Instacare took and diagnosed her with bronchitis and asthma. This runs in Katie's family and makes sense. Still praying for their family!

Yowch
The seasons are changing and this time of year wreaks havoc on my joints. Every year it gets a little worst because I'm not getting any younger. ;) Medications take a bit of the edge off, as does a gluten-less or gluten-free diet. I do yoga as much as I can as well, and that's great stuff. I find myself counting down to Spring though, which thankfully comes early around here. But one day, I wouldn't be surprised if we have to head a little further south to avoid the cold. It's like having a straightjacket on each of my joints and it's just not conducive to much of a quality of life.
But enough of that - we're excited that Logan had a good birthday. It was quiet, but a few of his cousins came over and I made a little cake. They had pine cone wars outside and had a good old time. He'll be baptized soon, and that will be so exciting!
I don't post about career stuff on here too much, but Jake has had a new opportunity at work that is keeping him busy and more appreciated. That's about all I can post about it on here, but maybe things are looking up for us.
So between now and Christmas, 3 more of our household has birthdays. It's all very overwhelming. I'll break it down to one thing at a time... First things first, I need to finish up a few more things for school before my quarter ends. School is fun, and I'm enjoying it, even with the challenges. I like feeling my brain growing. Jake's advisor from CSU called the other day, so we're trying to figure out a way to get him back. He only has literally a few more classes to go and we need to get that done. We just have to figure out a way to pay for that. CSU tuition's really gone up.

Happy Birthday, Little Train
Logan is 8 today! For some reason, time is just marching on and it seems like it's only been a matter of days since he was in preschool. Now he's a big boy with big ideas and dreams. Logan is a fun, gentle child and I feel so grateful to have him in my life and be his mom. I hope I do a good job.

Finished!
The Nutrition/Diet Therapy Writing Assignment that has been taking every extra moment of my life the last few days is submitted and done now. My brain is now ready to focus on the meaty fun of a Psychology paper due in a few weeks. I love Psychology. But for now, I'm spending time with my family this weekend...
I can't believe my Logan will be 8 tomorrow. Logan has been a wonderful child. His pregnancy was difficult, as all of them were, but his birth was beautiful. It seems to fit his personality, looking back. He never wants to make people uncomfortable and told me the other day that his "gift" is to make people smile. What a special kid! He came into the world on Thanksgiving Night, and was healthy and strong. He was the baby of the family for nearly 4 years. I can't fathom how 8 years has passed since he came into the world.
We aren't able to do much this year for Kiddo's birthday. It's been a hard year overall for us, but I sat with him last night and talked to him about how just because we can't do a party this year, we are still so thankful that he's with us and that we're going to celebrate his birthday this weekend by focusing on what a gift he's been to our family. Logan's good with that. He's got a few cousins that will come down and share some time with us too. We'll do something big later on when he's baptized.

Today Jake isn't feeling well, so he stayed home from work. We took the kiddos to the pediatrician for some booster shots for Will, and his swine flu vaccine. I was on the fence about that for so long, but after Katie's kids have battled it, I chose to go ahead and get it. I also wanted one for Nicholas, but they didn't have any in for his age or size. I took some pictures of the boys while we waited for the doctor.

Will was a trooper. Between his boosters and flu shot, he got 5 shots today. I usually don't like to do that many at once, but our insurance is about to change and we need to go ahead and get this stuff while we can... without paying an arm and a leg like we're going to after the beginning of the year when our insurance switches over...
